Nobody begins blogging with the hope that their thoughts and information go unnoticed. The point of a blog is to attract and engage readers. Why else would someone spend the time to publish their work?

The problem of low readership on your blog is a difficult one to solve, but it can be done. Here are some of the best ways to get more attention and build a loyal readership.

Be Different

Being different is easier said than done. These days, it is very difficult to find a new topic that is untouched by other bloggers. The key is to take a different approach to what everyone else is doing.

If there are a thousand blogs covering marketing, how many are covering the psychology of marketing? The same goes for fitness, finance, “doomsday prepping” etc. Find the most popular topics in a niche, then think laterally in order to provide a unique and fresh perspective on a given topic.

Engage Everywhere

The internet is becoming increasingly crowded. Even in the most obscure niches, there is competition for readers. The best way to reach readers is to be everywhere they are.

Starting a podcast, commenting on other high traffic blogs and engaging in social media and on forums are all ways to get in front of possible readers. In short, tap into hangouts and other people’s traffic to gain more exposure.

Embrace Controversy

Being controversial is scary and it can be dangerous if done recklessly. An example of controversy might be in the tech world. Apple is the darling of technology bloggers. If you run a blog on technology topics, consider running a post on why this is wrong.

Be careful not to disparage other people or brands. Controversy can equal trouble. This goes well with point number one in being different. Being different is often controversial, but if you generate controversy the right way, you can build a nice sized audience in a short amount of time.

Get Your Readers Coming Back

One of the best ways to drive traffic to your blog is to retain your past visitors. The best way to do this is through email subscriptions. There are low cost, and even free options like Mail Chimp that can help you to get started.

If people are willing to give you their email address, they are more likely to share your content with their friends and social media circles. Treat your subscribers with respect. Don’t spam them, don’t sell to them constantly, and always be willing to engage them when they comment on your posts.

Make It Easy For People To Find You

The best ways to get found are through social sharing and search engine optimization (SEO). Social is fairly easy. Putting social sharing buttons your blog make it easy for people to Tweet, Like and 1 your work to others online.

As far as SEO goes, the best and safest methods are to optimize your post titles for keywords that get significant amounts of traffic, ensuring your keywords get into the URL of your posts, and making your posts easy to read with short sentences and paragraphs.

If you engage away from your site and promote your content, the links will take care of themselves.

Be Patient

Building a loyal and thriving readership for your blog takes time. Be willing to create compelling work, engage with those who are most likely to appreciate it, and your audience will grow.

To start and maintain a great blog, you need a great Internet connection. But, if you live in a rural area, high speed Internet options like DSL and cable may not be options for you. If that’s the case, and you still have that need-to-blog itch, consider HughesNet satellite Internet. It can provide high speed Internet to people, even in rural or remote regions of the U.S.

Many in the blogging world start out well, and eventually lose steam. The internet is littered with blogs that have gradually petered out. Some bloggers, however, regularly post on not just one, but many blogs. Here are a few tips to managing multiple blogs on your own.
First, start out slow. Make sure you can handle posting regularly on one blog before you start trying to take on multiple projects at once. If you can’t update on blog 3 times a week, how can you expect to handle more?
Next, set aside a time every day just for blogging. Turn off all other distractions, including your phone. If you write every day, it becomes a habit. It’s a lot harder remember to blog if you’re only doing it every other day.
Third, keep track of your successes. Buy a calendar and mark off every day you’ve blogged. Once you’ve gone awhile without missing a day, you’ll hate to break your streak.
Finally, Make yourself accountable. Make a bet with a friend that you can update both blogs every day for a month. When skipping a post will cost you twenty bucks, you’re a lot less likely to blow it off.

The internet has given people a worldwide platform to create websites, blog, and talk about anything they want to talk about. The internet has given companies a chance to expand globally with the simple click of a mouse. Because of the ease of use for the internet and blogs, it’s flooded with millions of blog posts added every single day. Thanks to search engines like Google, Yahoo!, and the like, there are ways for someone to increase their chances to be discovered.
This is achieved through using keywords in posts and on web sites.I found some more information here. There are popular keywords that people use often in search engines and if you use those same keywords in your posts or on your site, it gives you a better chance to showing up higher on the search engines. This is often called ‘search engine optimization’. You can research to find out what keywords are most popular based on daily use, weekly use, or even monthly and yearly use. You can alter your pages and posts as needed to match these keywords.
The trick is to work the keywords into your site or blog so that they look natural and help your site. You can’t force them into the site or blog or else it won’t make sense. The use of popular keywords is extremely important to increase potential traffic.

Descriptive writing can do a lot for a blog post but sometimes there is something missing. Writing descriptions can give the reader a good idea of what the author is trying to convey but writing can also get a little boring.

Pictures can really enhance the flow of a blog post because it breaks up the post in a nice way. Right where someone may start to get tired of reading an included picture can entice the reader to continue. A fair amount of photos should be used but not so many that the post becomes a post about pictures with small amounts of writing included.Didn’t catch that? This explains it. A good rule of thumb is maybe using one photo at the beginning of the post to convey what the post is about and then a photo every quarter or every third way through the article so there are 3 or 4 pictures evenly dispersed throughout the post.

The photos can provide a very distinct visual description and it acts as punctuation in the writing that can be used between paragraphs or points. Photos are also visually exciting for people to look at and help them stay focused on the point of the post.

It is a known fact that people have a curious mind. Along with curious, there are some folks who are just downright nosy. These people feed on gaining information about other people’s personal lives. They do not intend to use the information for harmful purposes, but only for entertainment purposes. They view it as their own personal soap opera, occurring right before their eyes. People like this should be a sure tells sign that using an internet blog as a personal diary would gain you a great deal of attention. The blog would have a large, unique number of visitors. Like already mentioned, curiosity of the human mind would increase the popularity of your public online diary.

Though your diary is public, it does not mean that you have to give out fully accurate information, especially if it is about someone else. What is meant by this is that names could, and should, be changed. Knowing what is occurring should be good enough for the subscribers of your diary blog. They will never even know that the names are made up. As long as you are dishing out juicy details of your life, the readers will keep on returning for more.

Guest blog posts also helps to establish a relationship. A good relationship can a lot of the time mean money in the future. You can find a quick rundown here You could have a joint venture where you split the profits of a product, you can gain more readers because of bouncing off ideas between your followers and his followers.

It helps you get ideas. If you have a really engaging forum or blog site, the response from the guest blog is helpful in determining what kinds of posts your readers like to view.
